MAY 2026 BOND
PROPOSED PROJECTS
Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools’ last bond was approved in November 2021. The Board of Education has placed a new proposal on the May 5, 2026 ballot. If approved, it would allow the District to borrow $11.24 million with an expected zero (0.00) mill net increase over the 2025 levy to continue major facility updates. A full list of projects is included below:
Galesburg-Augusta Primary School

Replacement of select areas of roofing.

Chiller replacement for more efficient air conditioning throughout the building.

Replace building temperature control systems for better control of mechanical systems and monitoring energy use.

Emergency lighting upgrades.
Galesburg-Augusta Middle School

Replacement of select areas of roofing.

Chiller replacement for more efficient air conditioning throughout the building.
Galesburg-Augusta High School

Replacement of select areas of roofing.

Replacement of main entry doors, frames, and hardware for better building security.

Cooling tower replacement for more efficient air conditioning.
Transportation Facility

Construct new transportation facility to address functional issues of the current facility.

New parking lots and drives to support the new facility.
KEEPING THE
WHEELS TURNING
GACS currently operates its bus fleet from a transportation facility that is beyond its intended lifespan and limits effective maintenance and service.
The May 2026 bond would enable the construction of a new transportation facility to support the long-term care of district vehicles.

WHEN IT RAINS...
IT OFTEN DRIPS
Several roofs across the district have exceeded their useful life and are experiencing leaks that impact building conditions.
The May 2026 bond would allow the district to address roof repairs and replacements to protect school facilities.
